Maza

Maza is a small village in the foothills of the White Mountains, in North Western Crete, surrounded by lush fertile valleys and with wonderful views, located half way between Chania and Rethymnon, in the Apokoronas region.

The area features numerous interesting sights, such as Lake Kournas, the island’s only freshwater lake and the archaeological site of Aptera with its superb views of Souda Bay.

The village Maza is perched on a mountain slope some 150 m above the valley of the Boutakas river, 1.7 km to the south of the Chania-Rethymno road.

Aside the privacy and peace of mind, the location has a lot to offer as it is close to the highway for getaways.

Nearby the village you may find lots of paths for hiking while the sea is only 20 minutes away.

The archaeological sites of Knossos and Phaestos are just over an hour’s drive from the village.

Maza village is approximately 7.5kms from the sea and 42kms from the international airport of Chania.
