STONE HOUSE FOR RESTORATION, WITH TERRACE VIEWS & SMALL PRIVATE GARDEN AREA
Built in the mid 1800’s, this stone house once belonged to a wealthy villager and has a lot of character. It could be restored in a traditional style into a lovely home.
The house is approx. 86m2 including a terrace of approx. 8m2 plus a garden of the same size. One enters into an internal courtyard and the ground floor, which has two rooms on different levels with wooden ceilings. A wooden staircase goes up to the next floor, where presently there is a kitchen.
From the courtyard, stone steps go up to the second floor, which has two rooms including the kitchen with its open fireplace. The kitchen has a window which could be made into a door leading out to a small piece of ground that could make a lovely little garden for growing those tasty Cretan vegetables, salads and herbs. A stairway could be installed to give access to the roof, from where the views would be fabulous. The lower terrace also has wonderful views over the village, the Kritsa valley and down to the sea and the mountains beyond.
The house retains many of its original fixtures such as wooden doors and niches. The property has water; electricity would need to be re-connected; and there is a non flushing toilet. Road access is close and parking also not far and the house is minutes from the main street of Kritsa with all its shops and facilities.
An interesting property for those wishing to renovate a traditional type house and of course, Crete Homes Architect Division would be delighted to undertake this refurbishment project.
