2-STOREY DETACHED FURNISHED STONE HOUSE WITH CHARACTER, ESTABLISHED GARDEN, COURTYARD AND VIEWS
At the end of a cul-de-sac at the edge of the small hillside hamlet of Platipodi, this renovated stone detached 82m2 house is on a 314m2 plot surrounded by olive and citrus groves and in a quiet and tranquil setting. It has a lot of character with many of the existing and original features of the house remaining.
The courtyard wooden gate opens into the garden which has paved areas, terraces, paths, colourful plants, shrubs and fruit trees.
A stable type wooden door in a stone doorway gives entry into the open plan living/dining room and kitchen. Ceilings are wooden planks with beams and the floor is tiled. There is the original wide stone arch, the fireplace and various niches.
Furniture includes an L-shaped sofa that becomes a double bed with storage, and an expanding oval table with 6 chairs. There is under stairs storage and a top-loading washing machine.
The kitchen is fully equipped including a fridge/freezer, double oven with grill, hob and extractor fan and a sink for which water is heated separately. All other small electric items, crockery, cutlery, cookware, glassware and so on, are included.
The bathroom was refurbished in the summer of 2017 and has a shower cubicle with sliding door, sink and toilet. Water is heated by electricity.
A wooden staircase ascends to a large bedroom/sitting room with wooden floors, slanting wooden ceiling and a remote controlled fan. As well as a double bed, there are 2 Futons (singles). Wardrobes are fitted and although not a necessity in Crete, there is a safe. There are two doors out to the balcony terrace. Because of the location of these and the two bedroom windows, the room could be easily split into two smaller bedrooms, each one having a window and access to the terrace.
There are lovely gentle views from this balcony terrace over the garden and the lush countryside and olive groves, to nearby villages and the historic town of Neapolis. For the balcony terrace there are two Rattan sun beds with mattresses, a round iron table and two chairs.
For heating the house there are electric and fan heaters plus the ground floor fireplace.
The garden has been created and maintained with love and care. There are 15 fruit trees including orange, lemon, (one tree that has both fruits!) mandarin, plum, kumquat, pomegranate, pear, quince, apricot and grapefruit plus a grape bearing vine. The gravel has been lined underneath with a weed resisting product. This can all be removed easily if the natural earth is preferred. There are plenty of built in seating areas and a shed for storage plus a built in oven and a shaded dining table and chairs for dining “al fresco”. The garden has electric and there are also two outdoor taps. A floodlight on the balcony can light up the garden.
The roof is tiled and sealed. The property has a septic tank (soakaway). Car parking is possible outside the house.
The villages of Limnes, Houmeriakos, Nikithiano and the town of Neapolis are all within a few minutes drive. Aghios Nikolaos at approx. 12 kms and Heraklion airport at approx. 50 kms.
